Confined Space Rescue

This course is designed for all emergency response personnel (including fire prevention, suppression and control) and Industrial safety personnel. Confined Space Rescue Technician meets certification requirements based on NFPA 1670, 1999 edition, NFPA 1006, 2000 edition.

Throughout this 40 hour class participants will learn to perform rescues in confined spaces which consists of vertical and horizontal vessels, utilidors and tanks. Inside vessels and facilities with vertical and horizontal manways, product trays and tray tunneling and a variety of obstacles commonly found in an industrial environment.

Participant's will have the ability to evaluate, manage, and perform a confined space rescue in accordance with NFPA 1670,NFPA 1006. Valuable information is provided regarding OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI standards and compliance issues. The curriculum meets and exceeds requirements for rescue training in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 "Permit Required Confined Spaces for General Industry."

  • Incident command
  • Review and exam

Equipment needed:

  • Helmet with a light source
  • Leather gloves · Shoes with ankle support
  • Cover-alls or clothing appropriate to weather and conditions


  • Due to strenuous demands placed on students, a physical examination is recommended.
